Guns and Newspaper

Sam: EMT; Full-time student; total badass.

Guys, I know I don't have a real post for today (but I'm pulling duty tonight, so there's a good chance I'll have something to write about!), but I am way too excited about this not to share.
Yesterday, Chris and I went to the firing range, and he taught me how to shoot. It was probably the most fun I've had in the past few weeks. Both my parents are good shots, so it was nice to see that I have okay aim for a beginner; a "chip off the old block," says my dad.
When I get better pictures of my targets, I'll definitely post them. You can read my full post about this over here.

On another exciting note, my campus newspaper just published a front-page article about Drew's and my efforts towards starting a campus rescue squad! You can read it here, and I'll probably be posting a picture of the actual paper soon. Oh, and just so you know, the guy in the picture with me isn't Drew, it's Andrew. I don't think I've ever mentioned him, but he's a good guy too. Used to run with us on Wednesdays, but then he decided that he was too good for us and left for another night. But they used one of my most favorite pictures. It's framed and sitting on my desk right now :P

Anyway, this has been a very interesting couple of days, and so I thought I'd share! Hope you enjoy the article!

Looking GOOD!

Glad to hear of another person getting into the shooting sports, we need more like you. Also glad to see a woman talking about liking shooting. My older daughter loves it and it is great to see someone helping to get rid of the all guy image. Keep it up!!

Uhhhh . . . you are hot, Medic 61. Angelina Jolie's got nothing on you. Have you ever thought of taking your guns and shooting some blanks on the silver screen? That would rock! And Glocks are nice. Did you feel like a gangsta shooting that? (-;

I think campus squads are a great way to rope new suckers into EMS. That's how I got roped in! I've been loving every minute since.

Sam,
Sometime ago, you posted a post that spoke about lyrics that may have meant a lot to the reader. At the time, I gave you lyrics by one of my favorite artists, Michelle Branch. Well, I just happen to find these:

"The Hardest Things"

They couldn't have told me
That it would be like this
That it could be like this
For you

I wish I would have known
That it could be like this
That it would be like this
For you

I know you're hurting
I know you're reaching out
I'm sure you wonder what this is all about
You couldn't sweat full, full words be known to you
I'm sure you feel it
You know I feel it too

Sometimes the hardest things in life
Are the things we have to do
And even when we feel it's right
I never want to hurt you

It's never simple
Deciding what should be
There's still a void here
When you're an absentee
You could be angry
But you're a bigger man
We know you'll make it
Never forget to stand

Sometimes the hardest things in life
Are the things we have to do
And even when we feel it's right
I never want to hurt you

You have always been
You always will
You have always been a part of me
You have always been a part of me
You will always be a part of me
You will always be a part of me
You will always be a part of me
You've always been a part

The hardest things in life
Are the things we have to do
And even when we feel it's right
I never want to hurt you

Sometimes the hardest things in life
Are the things we have to do
And even when we feel it's right
I never want to hurt you.

I apologize for creating this huge post. I just felt that, I had to post this. Because the last two lines in this post, meant something to me. Just a line perhaps...I don't know...but you know me, you know how I feel about words. Be blessed...And again yes, you are simply wonderful.

Hey Sam,

Love the blog, but my first time commenting - its interesting to see just how differently the emergency services work over in the States.

Keeping a public record of how you're getting on with all the things you want to do seems like an amazing idea - it'll actually make sure things get done! If you don't mind, I think I'll nick that idea - I could do with something to make me get off my behind and start doing things!
