Overheard while starting an IV last night:
Nurse: So what brought you to the ER today?
20 y/o female: I just can't catch my breath.
Nurse: Do you have a history of asthma or any breathing problems?
20 y/o female: No, not that I know of.
Nurse: Have you ever had anything like this before?
20 y/o female: Yeah.
Nurse: Why was that?
20 y/o female: Well you see, I smoke pot about every other day...

Hey, at least she admits to inhaling....
More seriously, at least we as a society are more able to discuss that kind of thing. I remember many years ago (the beginning of the Reagan Administration, IIRC) trick-or-treating. One lady didn't answer her door, and I jokingly speculated that she was smoking pot. This angered the woman escorting us so much that she refused to let me trick-or-treat at the next door, as punishment.
